A Radiant Light of Hope This Pandemic

OMNI Electrical and Lighting donated its products to over 75 COVID-19 Emergency Quarantine Facilities (EQFs)

Supporting emergency quarantine facilities

In March 2020, OMNI Electrical and Lighting donated electrical and lighting products to more than 75 COVID-19 Emergency Quarantine Facilities designed by Filipino architects from WTA Architecture and Design Studio. The facilities gave hospitals additional space for persons under investigation and asymptomatic positive cases during the early pandemic response.

WTA principal architect William Ti led the initiative with Dr. Glenn Angeles of Health Hub Clinic, Maj. Carmelo Jauague, and Maj. Banjo Torres Badayo. The project emphasized speed, scalability, buildability, and the use of flexible materials that were readily available.

OMNI supplied electrical and lighting equipment for facilities across Metro Manila. The temporary structures were built in accessible locations such as hospital parking areas and gymnasiums so they could support over-capacity hospitals.

Five-day, 16-bed facilities

Each facility was designed with 16 beds, a testing area, lavatories, sanitation and disinfection areas, and a nurses' lounge. The source report said a facility could be completed in five days: three days for construction, one for finishing, and one for interior work and onboarding.

The design drew inspiration from the recycled-material Boysen Pavilion presented at the 2020 Anthology Festival. OMNI credited the designers, builders, procurement teams, donors, and volunteers whose work made the emergency facilities possible.
