5 Ways to Cut Your Electricity Bill with LED
With Meralco rates the way they are, lighting is one bill you can control. Five practical, PH-tested ways to save power by switching to LED.

Electricity is one of the biggest running costs in any Filipino household, and with Meralco rates where they are, every kilowatt-hour counts. Lighting is one of the few parts of your bill you can actually control without giving anything up — you get the same brightness for a fraction of the power. Here are five practical ways to bring your lighting costs down with LED.
1. Replace old incandescent and CFL bulbs first
This is the single biggest win. LED bulbs use far less electricity than the old incandescent bulbs many homes still have — commonly on the order of 80–85% less power for the same brightness. That means a bulb that used to draw a lot of watts can be replaced by one drawing only a handful, with no drop in light.
Start with the bulbs that stay on the longest: living room, kitchen, and outdoor lights. A LED Lite A72 15W Daylight can take over from a much thirstier incandescent bulb in a main room.
2. Understand wattage equivalence before you buy
The old habit of shopping by watts no longer works, because LED watts and incandescent watts are not the same thing. With LED, a lower wattage produces the same brightness. So instead of reaching for a high-wattage bulb out of habit, check the brightness (lumens) on the product page and pick the lowest wattage that gives you the light you need.
For most general-purpose rooms, a LED Lite A65 12W Daylight is plenty. Buying a bigger bulb than the room needs just spends power you do not have to.
3. Read the DOE energy label
In the Philippines, lighting products are covered by the Department of Energy's Philippine Energy Labeling Program (PELP). The energy label helps you compare products on efficiency before you buy, rather than guessing.
We keep the official energy labels for our range on file — you can view them on our downloads page. Reading the label takes a few seconds and helps you choose an efficient bulb with confidence.
4. Right-size your fixtures, not just your bulbs
Sometimes the smartest saving is switching a whole fixture rather than one bulb. Ceiling panels and surface lamps spread light evenly, so you often need fewer fittings to light a room well. A single LED Panel Lamp 40W (60x60 cm) can light an office or study area that might otherwise need several separate bulbs, each drawing its own power.
5. Only light what you are using
The cheapest kilowatt-hour is the one you never use. Switch off lights in empty rooms, and choose the right brightness for the task instead of over-lighting. In areas that only need modest light — hallways, storage, a bedside lamp — a lower-wattage bulb such as the LED Lite A60 9W Daylight does the job while sipping power.
A realistic word on savings
Switching to LED lowers the power your lights draw, and that shows up on your monthly bill over time. We will not promise you a specific peso figure — your actual saving depends on how many bulbs you replace, how long they run, and your rate. But the direction is clear: less wattage for the same light means a smaller lighting share of your Meralco bill.
